If you are going to any region which is closer to sea levels, then physical fitness is not required to that extend accept you should be prepared to travel for a longer time. But if you are going to a place which is on high altitude like Tibet, Nepal or Ladakh, then physical fitness is required as there will be dip in the oxygen levels and you need to take care of certain things such as not eat heavy before travelling, keeping the food intake lowe for 2 to 3 days of your stay at the destination so that you get Acclamatizated with region.
